On August 1, DEC approved yet another flawed LTCP. The city and state did not disclose this until very recently, when SWIM asked for a status update. The approved plan will not reduce the volume of CSO discharges into Westchester Creek by even one gallon for the foreseeable future, beyond projects previously completed or underway. This will leave almost 300 million gallons of raw sewage overflowing into the creek annually, with more than 30 overflow events per year.
Click here for details about the flawed plan. We need to let DEP know on November 15th that this is not good enough!
